Training calendar for 2011

5K Training Program just for Women!

  • Heat Wave is a program geared toward getting you up and moving. It is a 9-week training program designed to help beginning runners learn the basics of running and better fitness. If you’re a new runner, a casual recreational runner, or just a want-to-get-back-in-to-it runner, Heat Wave is for you.

  • The short-term goal of the program is to help participants prepare for a 5K (3.1 mile) race.
  • The long-term goal of the program is to help participants develop a better understanding of the sport of running and get on the road to a life of better fitness and health. The ultimate goal is for you to get fit, make some friends, and have FUN!
  • HEAT WAVE Program takes place on Mondays 6/13 through 8/8 @ 6:00pm.
Meetings at Chiddix Junior High parking and the Anderson Park shelter.
First meeting is at the Anderson Park shelter on 6/13 @ 6:00 PM .

  • All abilities are welcome!
Groups will be broken down as follows:

Level 1 - Never Ran Before
    Level 2 - Recent Beginner/37+ min 5K
    Level 3 - 32-37 min 5K
    Level 4 - 26-31 min 5K
    Level 5 - sub 26 min 5K/speed workout

  • Program includes a training plan, group runs with an experienced leader, a technical shirt for training and other goodies.

  • Heat Wave training is a gradual process where we add minutes of running to the training schedule interspersed with minutes of walking. By training a little each day you will be able to gradually increase your endurance and the time you spend running. Before you know it, you'll be running miles instead of minutes!
