Central Illinois Road Races

Doug Gillam has compiled a history book of Central Illinois road races.

The 225-page book profiles the 149 ACTIVE road races in Central IL (basically the ones north of Springfield and south of I-80). Each of these profiles lists the contact persons, the course records, past winners and times and number of finishers for each year in existence (as much of that info that was available from sources), and it also has course maps and other interesting facts on several of the races. In addition, it has a section for results of races that are no longer held.

If you like to know statistics about races, the book certainly has them -- comparisons of the number of male vs. female finishers, # of awards offered per finisher, average costs of races in the area, and more.

Doug has done this two year project to help promote running and road racing in the area. He will be more than happy to make a copy of the book for you at cost - $23.00. There are copies (for display only) at Often Running in Normal and Running Central in Peoria.
