Please join us for the Run for the Fallen Half Marathon Run, 5k Run/Walk, and 3k Run/Walk by honoring and supporting Gold Star Families and our Fallen Heroes. All races will be held primarily within three beautiful Winnebago County Forest Preserves; Kishwaukee, Blackhawk Springs and Espenschied. Much of the half marathon is on trails ranging from grassy double-track to twisting and technical single-track. The remainder is on paved roads and paths. The 5k Run/Walk utilizes a mix of paved and gravel. The 3K Run/Walk utilizes paved roads. Both races traverse a stretch of private property that is only open to registered racers on the day of the race. Scenic, well-marked, and with plenty of aid stations, these two events are ideal for first timers, but can also be a challenging race for experienced trail runners. Both courses will be supported and remain open for four hours, 8 AM to noon. The Gold Star Mission is a nonprofit organization that seeks to Honor and Support Gold Star Families by preserving the memory of our Fallen Heroes through service to others in need.
Race will be held at Pheasant Run parking area, Evergreen Lake, Hudson IL
This race is formally known as “Fisherman’s Trail” . We simply moved to a different section of trail for a change of scenery and new experience. The course terrain and difficulty is VERY similar to the Fisherman’s Trail course and extremely manageable to all runners including those wanting to experience trail running for the first time.
The course is 100% trail (majority hard pack dirt single track). The course provides a little something for trail runners of all experiences. This event is designed to be a great opportunity to introduce trail running to those interested and are looking for the perfect event for a new experience. The course will be approximately 5 miles.
There will be race day registration.
NOTE: All pre-registrants (by 6/21) will be guaranteed a shirt. There will be no additional shirts available for any registrations after 6/21 including race day.
All profits from Shady Hollow events go to good causes.
