Join the Lake Run Club, Tri-shark Triathlon Club, Inc. and Central Illinois Masters Swim Team, Inc., at scenic Timber Pointe Outdoor Center, Lake Bloomington, for a day of outdoor training. This should be a great day to get in some open water swim training, some road runs OR trail runs, and some bike miles on the roads of rural McLean County, or any combination of the three. The events will be fairly informal, but we have a schedule of guided events listed below with varying distances for beginners and the more experienced.
- 8:00 AM – ABC Run: 4 & 8 mile courses – Proceeds benefiting Timber Pointe Outdoor Center, Easter Seals. This is a traditional ABC run event in that 100% of donations for the run go directly to the children’s charity. Trail Run: The Run the Woods trail run course will be available as well along with guides.
- 9:00-10:30 AM – 600 meter beginner swim or Long course swim – # of laps determined by each swimmer.
- 10:30 AM – 12 mile bike or 26 mile bike.
- Noon – Cookout and beverages.
This is also an opportunity to get to know Timber Pointe, a gem in our backyard. Timber Pointe, which is owned by Easter Seals, provides special needs and inclusive camp sessions for children and adults ages 7 and up. Campers participate in traditional camp activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, arts & crafts, target sports, music, and horseback riding. It is an experience of outdoor life for kids and adults whose health issues make these activities often seem impossible. To help support Timber Pointe, all participants are asked to make a donation to Easter Seals in support of Timber Pointe and its campers. Any amount is welcomed, though at least ten dollars is strongly encouraged!
We will fire up the grills and lunch will start at approximately noon. Chicken breasts, bratwurst, veggies, chips, snacks, soft drinks and beer to be served. Bring one and all!
